Family counselling supports parents, adolescents and children in managing the many issues and challenges facing them in today’s world.

The goal of family counselling is to help family members solve family problems and conflicts through improved communication, greater awareness of childhood and adolescence issues, and better understanding of special family situations. Common reasons parents seek support for their children include adjustment to family separation, anxiety, stress, disobedience and conduct problems.

Parents are assisted with their presenting concerns about their child’s emotional, social and behavioural development. Children are supported in their personal and interpersonal growth in skills such as learning to regulate emotions, social interactions and coping in the face of family stress, academic stress and peer pressure.

Family counselling helps children learn to:

  • Regulate and manage emotions
  • Manage family stress
  • Manage academic stress
  • Manage peer pressure
