Hopefield offers a range of group programs for children and adults targeting issues such as anxiety, confidence, parenting, resilience, life changes, communication and social skills.

Our team of professional psychologists, counsellors and speech pathologists facilitate group programs at our Kirrawee and Cronulla locations and in schools or other venues regularly and on request.

Past Programs

Tuning In To Teens

Tuning in to Teens is an evidence based program for parents who would like to build stronger connections with their tweens/teens. It teaches parents how to help their teen develop emotional intelligence through understanding their teen and communicating more effectively with their teen, helping their teen manage difficult emotions and teaching them how to deal with conflict more effectively. It is designed to help prevent behavioural issues in teens.

Cool Kids Anxiety Management Program

The Cool Kids program, developed by Macquarie University, is an evidence-based structured skills-centred program that teaches children aged 7-17 and their parents how to better manage anxiety. Participants learn about feelings and anxiety,
detective thinking and learning to think realistically, ways that parents can help, fighting fear by facing fear, how to problem solve and apply anxiety-reducing strategies. Reported benefits include an increase in school attendance, academic achievement, confidence, number of friends and involvement in extracurricular activities and a decrease in worry, shyness, fear and family distress.

Confident Communication for Kids

Confident Communication workshops are for primary school children and address what confident communication looks and feels like, using deep breathing to prepare for confident communication, using a confident body position when communicating and using simple strategies for starting conversations. Each of these aspects is covered in an activity/game format and participants complete a workbook that they get to keep.

Circle of Security Parenting Program

Our Circle of Security Parenting Program (COS-P) is a 6-8 week program delivered face to face or online by a trained and certified COS-P facilitator. COS-P is an attachment based parenting program that has had positive outcomes for over 20 years. It is designed to help develop parent/child relationships and equip families to face challenges and manage emotions. Suitable for parents, grandparents and carers of children 0-5 but with reported benefits for families with children of all ages.

Circle of Security Early Educators Program

Circle of Security in the Classroom (COS-C) is a 6-8 week program based on the same material created for parents (COS-P) but adapted to the more complex context of early educators and carers in day care, preschool and kindergarten settings. The program offers new insights into child behaviours, challenges experienced by carers and a new language to enable more targeted team support and provides opportunities for early educators to reflect, interact and discuss the material. COS-C can be delivered face to face or online by a trained and certified COS-C facilitator.

Powerful Speeches

Powerful Speeches is designed to assist primary aged children who become stressed over preparing and presenting speeches in class. In a relaxed workshop format, Powerful Speeches provides participants with skills and strategies to prepare and present speeches with confidence.

Building Social Skills with Lego®

This fun workshop teaches children how to work together using the social skills of clear communication, joint problem solving, sharing, turn-taking and conflict resolution to build Lego® models. It is suitable for children attending mainstream schools who may struggle with social skills particularly when working in a group or team.
